Yes. Everyone 15 and older needs a Washington fishing license, and crab trips also need a shellfish endorsement plus a catch record card for Dungeness. The tackle shop two doors from our dock office sells day licenses for about $21. Arrive 20 minutes early and it takes five minutes.
We make the call the evening before, and you get a text either way. If we cancel, you choose between a full refund and a free reschedule to any open date. We do not run marginal trips to protect the calendar.
Layers, rain shell, rubber-soled shoes, sunglasses, snacks, and a cooler for the drive home. We provide all fishing gear, bait, and crab pots. Coffee is always on in the cabin. Leave the banana at home if you are superstitious. Half our guests are.
Kids 6 and up are welcome on bay crabbing trips and get their own pot to pull. For ocean trips we recommend 12 and up because of the longer day and open-water motion. Kid-sized life jackets stay aboard year round.
State limits apply: currently 6 male Dungeness of legal size per person on sport gear, 7 bottomfish per person, and salmon limits that WDFW sets each season. We measure and check everything at the rail so your catch is always legal when you drive home.
The $50 per person deposit moves freely to any other open date until 48 hours before departure. Inside 48 hours it is forfeited if you cancel, unless we can fill your spots from the waitlist, in which case we refund it. Weather cancellations on our end are always refunded in full.
We keep a rack of clean rain bibs and jackets in common sizes aboard, free to use. Boots we do not supply, so wear closed shoes with grippy soles. Sneakers are fine on dry days.
Tips are never required and always appreciated, and they go entirely to the deckhand. Guests who tip usually land between 10 and 20 percent of the trip price. Cash at the dock or added to a card payment both work.
Free public parking sits directly across from Float 8 on Westhaven Drive, a two-minute walk to the boat. Arrive 30 minutes before departure, 20 of those are for licenses if you still need them.
